Required for Passport Services
Working Hours
Application forms for the passport services can be submitted
to the High Commission on working days between 9.30 a.m. and 1.00
p.m.
Issue of new passports
Indian passports are now normally issued
with a validity of 10 years. Their renewal thereafter involves
the issue of a new passport. However, passports were previously
issued with a validity of 5 years and applicants seeking renewal
after 5 years should refer to the next section 'Renewal of
Passports'. This section also applies to persons requiring
additional booklets where their passport has run out of available
pages for visas, etc.
- completed application forms for new

- four passport-sized photographs, one of
which should be attested by a Doctor, Bank Manager or
Solicitor and bear the stamp of the attesting person
- the fee. Please note that if you are making a postal
application only Postal Orders are accepted
- the current passport
- an application for a new passport can be
made at any time within 6 months of the date of expiry of
passport (see last point below for applications made one
year or more after expiry)
- please allow 5 days for delivery of new
passport.
- a stamped, self-addressed envelope is
required from postal applicants
- if the previous passport expired more than
one year before the time of making application for its
renewal, two additional documents are required: (i) an
affidavit prescribed by the High Commission and sworn
before a Notary Public or Solicitor authorised to
administer oaths (click here to download format of the
affidavit) and (ii) a letter from the British Home Office
stating that the applicant has not acquired British
Nationality. This letter can be obtained from Immigration
and Nationalities Department, Nationality Office, 3rd
Floor, India Building, Water Street, Liverpool, L2 0QN.
Renewal
of Passports

renewal of passport is sought after 5 years of original issue.

Issue of Duplicate Passports/Travel Documents in
Lieu of Lost Passports
- completed application form for issue of duplicate
passport/other travel document in lieu of lost, stolen or
damaged passport (click here to download forms)
- completed 'L' form (included in above download)
- duly notarised affidavit (included in above download)
- 12 recent full-face passport-size photographs, one of
which should be attested by a Doctor, Bank Manager,
Solicitor, Commissioner of Oaths, Postmaster
- the fee (only Postal Orders
accepted with postal applications)
- police report in case of lost or stolen passport
- a strong self-addressed envelope for return of passport
by post
- if the applicant is not a visitor to the
UK, a letter from the British Home Office stating that
the applicant has not acquired British Nationality. This
letter can be obtained from Immigration and Nationalities
Department, Nationality Office, 3rd Floor, India
Building, Water Street, Liverpool, L2 0QN.
Change
of Name
Maiden to married name:
- completed application form for a new passport (see 'Issue
of New Passports' above for form and details of documents
required)
- the fee (only Postal Orders
accepted with postal applications)
- original marriage certificate with a photocopy
- husband's passport
Other changes of name:
- completed application form for a new passport (see 'Issue
of New Passports' above for details of documents
required)
- the fee (only Postal Orders
accepted with postal applications)
- sworn affidavit from Notary Public on prescribed form
- copy of advertisements in a local newspaper of the area
of applicant's residence in the UK
- copy of advertisement in a newspaper of the area of
permanent residence of the applicant
